Thankful Thursday

|

On this Thankful Thursday I am so thankful that we serve a God in whom we can entrust everything. There is no need for us to worry about tomorrow, there is no need for us to worry about whether or not our daily needs will be met, there is not need to worry about the outcome of the election. Plain and simple…. THERE IS NO NEED TO WORRY.

Now that I’ve said that I must make a confession. I am a worrier. However, I am a recovering worrier. Over the last couple of years I have been on a journey to trust and rely more and more on the Lord. I don’t want to be a worrier. It’s no fun. It brings sleepless nights. It shows I don’t put my trust where it should be which is in the Lord.

Over the last few months it has become easier and easier to put aside my worrying nature and to just let God handle whatever it may be that could be worrisome. Oh, this doesn’t mean that I still don’t fail… I do. My human nature jumps in there sometimes before I can even stop it. But, it is becoming easier to push aside my human nature.

I’m so thankful that God will handle anything… if we will just let Him. As Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:6....

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Loved your TT post, and I am also a worry wart but as of late God has given me so much peace about things that in my human nature I should worry about. The old song is true "Don't worry - be happy!" May the joy of the Lord be our strength, may it also be our Country's strength! -Happy TT!

From one worrier to another, thanks for this post today! I'm really consciously working on "let go and let God" to use the vernacular but it completely goes against what is in my nature. I'll keep plugging though!

Very honest TT and I loved it! If it helps, I'm a worrier too and slowly learning to just trust God, but it's not easy.

Bless you dear Sister!

Hi Melanie,
I am a recovering worrier too. I have learned something good always come from something that has happened. But it is easier to see it for others than you self. I can tell my kids it happened for this reason. But it took me 29 years to see what good came of things that happened to me.
Have a wonderful week.

Sometimes it's hard not to worry. A verse that has helped me through the years is John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

It is human nature to worry and that is why we are so blessed that we can take on the nature of Christ and lay our burdens at the cross. The challenge for us "recovering worriers" is not to pick them back up again! Happy TT!

I am in a time right now...getting bombarded with so much to "worry" about. Since, that tends to be my inclination, thank you for the reminder.

My grandpa used to call me a "worry wart" but I do feel I have grown out of that for the most part. I know that as God's child, He will take care of me. Period. That doesn't mean I will like everything that happens, but I know that everything that happens is for my good.

Thanks for your post!

I must confess that I too struggle with worry. It just seems like lately there's so much to worry about. But I do know that God is in control and through faith, I believe. Glad to visit your blog on this Thankful Thursday.
