Today I would like to ask anyone reading this post to join me in two activities. The first is to vote. Please, please, please... if you haven't already voted, get out there today and do so. It is a privilege and an honor to vote. It is a freedom that so many in our world do not have where they live. It is a gift from God that we are able to vote for the leaders of our country.
The second activity I'd like to ask you to join me in is prayer. Prayer for our country. Regardless of who wins this election... regardless of the actions taken by our government over the next few years.... we need to pray. We should pray the leaders of our country would seek the Lord. We should pray that the citizens of this country respect the position of the presidency... even if they don't agree with them and even if they didn't vote for him but for someone else instead. We should pray that our country as a whole seek the Lord.
On this election day, I have been overcome by many thoughts and many emotions. Some of them you may also be experiencing. However any of us feel... this is the time to pray. We need to remember that God is in control and it is in His hands. We are all His and He will carry us through whatever is ahead... good or bad.
My new "go to" song when I am concerned about something is the song "Yours" by Steven Curtis Chapman. This is such a great song and a reminder that no matter the circumstance... we belong to God. In Him we find hope and in Him we find the reason to continue showing His love to this world.
In closing, I once again invite you to join me in voting today and in prayer for our country. As we pray and as we walk in the days ahead for our country, I pray that you will be comforted in knowing that we all belong to Him.

I love that song too and have been praying already early this morning. The Lord is in control now just as he has always been.
Wonderful post, Melanie! I voted on Friday but I will be joining you in prayer today. Blessings to you and your family!
I'm right there with you!
God Bless the U.S.A.
Such an encouraging post today. Thank you!
I read an article last night on the net that disturbed my heart greatly and I just pray for this election and the voters.
I'm with you, girl. It is indeed a privilege and cherished gift. I voted early, early this morning and haven't stopped praying. What a perfectly fitting choice of songs. Such an encouraging reminder!
Blessings,
Tracy
We just had our election in Canada a few weeks ago... very important to vote. Thanks for posting about praying for our government. I need to remember to do that more often.
God Bless!
I have voted, and I have and still am in prayer...
Blessings!
Voted here and praying that our Heavenly Father watch over our country and our world and that those who have yet to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will come to know Him.
Hey Melanie,
We do need to be in constant prayer for our country and the people representing it, and for all in the world.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheryl
