Friday Facts - Origin of the Word "Bible"

|
I've just got one item for today's post, but I thought this was kind of neat!

The word Bible is from the Greek word Biblia. Biblia literally means "books". Hmmmm... isn't the Bible made up of 66 books? And, wasn't the Bible written by over 40 different authors? So, reading the Bible is really like reading multiple books written by multiple writers. Pretty neat, huh?

Melanie,
I have a favor to ask. Would you please read my latest post, called "Urgent Prayer Request" and forward the request to all of your prayer chains, emails, bloggy buddies, etc.? I am trying to get as many people as possible to pray for this precious little boy.

I would set up a button for people to grab and post on their own blogs, but I haven't a clue how to to that! So, I am spreading the word the best way I know how. :o)

Thank you so much for your prayers...

The word Byblus or Biblia are Greek derivatives from an African plant called Papyrus, which grew along the Nile River during the Biblical Period of 12th century B.C. This was an export from Africa to the Phoenician City of Gebal, which was then a Greek colony. The meaning of Papyrus is paper. So know that when you read the Bible, you are reading the Holy Papers.
