Thankful Thursday

|

This week I am thankful for the season of fall. This is one of my favorite times of the year! The temperatures begin to cool down and the colors of nature are just spectacular -- all the oranges and brownes and golds!

To me it is the perfect preparation for the holiday season. I begin putting together my holiday plans while sitting outdoors enjoying the temperatures that are comfortable and even a little cool. We begin making our travel plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas, plan out our Christmas card list, prepare our home and put together meals if we are having family at our house and on and on.

Now, don't let me fool you that I'm some kind of organization wizard that has all of her holiday plans together by the end of October.... far from it!:) In reality, I probably won't have anything final until sometime in November -- and then only for Thanksgiving. However, this beautiful fall month will mark the beginning of turning my thoughts seriously to the holidays and at least begin putting ideas together in my mind.

Fall is also the perfect season for more outdoor time together for us as a family. We love to take this time of the year and spend more time at the park together, go to the zoo, and just hang out in the backyard together more. We'll eat more meals out on our patio and really enjoy the weather before it gets too cold to do so.

So, as I go about my days and enjoy the cooler temperatures, I want to make sure that I also remember to be thankful for this season. Thank you, Lord, for all the beauty of the Fall!

I also love the same time of year! Unfortunately it's the opposite down here. I keep telling The Dutch Boy we need to move back to the northern hemisphere so I can enjoy cold Christmases. *dreamy sigh*

I love fall too! Hubby and I were just saying that we need to get the chairs out on the front porch so we can sit out there and sip coffee in the morning. (the chairs were put away for hurricane season)

Have a blessed day, Melanie!

Wow, now I'm in the mood to get out my notebook and do a walk-through the house to see what needs spruced up before the holidays are upon us.

As soon as the temperatures started hinting fall, I started baking and canning wonderful things to put on my homemade breads and bagels. (Apple butter, pumpkin butter, plum preserves, strawberry preserves) I love to bring the taste of fall through the winter with me.

My family is thrilled to be the recipients of my particular attentions right now.

Thanks for inspiring me today to make the holidays more special by planning ahead. Maybe if I follow your example, the months ahead will be a pleasurable ride up to the new year--instead of a rush through the traffic of all the other folks who, like me, tend do it last minute. ;->

Looks like we're thinking on the same lines today. FALL! Yes, I'm SOOO EXCITED to see the cooler temps and the beautiful orange and yellows all around. =-)

The dentist appointment went well.. They put in a "separator" to hold Zach's teeth in place until he's old enough for braces. (I think the doc is trying to prevent having to pull teeth in the future)

HAPPY "TT!"

I too have enjoyed the cooler weather and sitting outside. I don't like the time change when it gets so dark it seems so fast. I have always had to adjust to this. It makes me want to curl up to a good book and a mug of hot tea.
Thanks for sharing,
Darlene

The only thing not to LOVE about Fall is that Winter is on the way...other than that, I LOVE LOVE LOVE...jeans, pumpkins, down vests, fireplaces...you name it!
