Thankful Thursday

|

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105

I am so very thankful for God's Word. I can't imagine where I would be without my Bible to turn to each day. There is an answer to every situation we may face. There is a comforting verse for each need. There are words of encouragement for each and every day. Oh, how blessed we are that God put His words, His message, His love into a form that we could have in our hands at all times!

Over the last 6-8 months I have spent more time studying my Bible than I probably have since I was in high school. I can't begin to tell you how my relationship with the Lord has strengthened. I have grown closer to the Lord, I have learned to turn to Him more often in times of frustrations, stress and discouragement. I have learned to spend more time thanking Him for all He has done for me and my family. I have learned to praise Him more regardless of how I may be feeling on any given day.

In closing I want to share the words to a song that was released a number of years of ago by Amy Grant. I think they sum up perfectly how God's Word leads us and draws us nearer to Him.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

When I feel afraid,
And think Ive lost my way.
Still, youre there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

I will not forget
Your love for me and yet,
My heart forever is wandering.
Jesus by my guide,
And hold me to your side,
And I will love you to the end.

Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
And a light unto my path.
Youre the light unto my path.

The time spent with God and His word is so well spent. Every fall I start a new bible study and yesterday was the first day back. I was all excited. God is so faithful to reveal Himself to me when I spend time with Him in His word.

Have a blessed day and thanks for the post.

It is really amazing when we go through seasons without as much time in the Word, how our lives are affected. It is always reasssuring to know that He always welcomes us back and longs for us to spend time with Him.

I have been humming this song for the last 2 days! I, too, am grateful for His Word. Last year I decided for the first time to make a true committment to read through the Bible in a year. I did it 3 times. How glorious is His Word! I find new truths each time I read it, I guess He speaks specifically to me through whatever I'm reading at the time and I see it in a whole new light. I have learned so much about the character of God and His love for us...I am humbled by it, quite frankly. Glad you're enjoying reading His Word. Have a wonderful Thankful Thursday, Melanie!

His word is a lamp unto my feet! The song, too, has been my anthem as I've been training for the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk (Dallas in November)!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

God's Word is truly wonderful, it is a treasure to me! I know when I began to really dig into His Word is when my walk began to be strengthened and my faith in Him increased... The Word of God is awesome and can bring about miracles in our lives, from the inside out!

Thanks for sharing, and keep digging deep!

Thanks for your visit yesterday, and I pray your husband gets home quickly, and that God provides you with the strength you need to do all you need to do until he returns!

Blessings!

I, too, am thankful for His Word. It's amazing the things He teaches us.. how a passage can mean one thing one day, and something else will strike us from it the next day. It truly is amazing... such a blessing.
Thanks for sharing!

Melanie, I echo your thanks today...what a gift we have in God's word! I love that song. It's often one that gets "stuck in my head" for days at a time and I never mind. Such beautiful lyrics.

By the way, I just saw your post for WFW below...breathtaking. What an image and what an incredible thought to ponder.

Blessings, sweet friend.

I could copy your post word for word, it is exactly what I've been feeling. Especially this part, "I can't imagine where I would be without my Bible to turn to each day. There is an answer to every situation we may face. There is a comforting verse for each need. There are words of encouragement for each and every day." Beautifully said.

My renewed love for God's word came backwards though. I wasn't studying it like I should have been, then hard times came, and I dug in. I was so encouraged and uplifted. I wondered how people who don't have it even make it through hard times! Now it is such a wonderful part of my life, I can't imagine not digging in everyday.
