Thankful Thursday - May 1, 2008

|

This week I am thankful for wonderful school teachers. I have realized for a couple of years now how very fortunate my children have been with their preschool teachers. Both of them have had wonderful, loving, caring teachers. Women that openly showed their love to each of the children in their classroom.

This year we made the big step into public school as my son started kindergarten. While I had heard nothing but wonderful things about his elementary school, I still entered this phase with him with some trepidation. However, we once again were fortunate to have a wonderful teacher. Not only that, but a Christian teacher. And, while she is limited in sharing her faith directly with the children, she shows it daily in the way she teaches and shows her love for each child. Not only that, but I have since discovered that there are a number of teachers in his school that are Christians and the assistant principal is a member of our church. I know these women cannot protect from everything that is out there, but I do know they will do whatever is in their power. And I know their influence on my children will be positive.

As I am writing this post on Wednesday evening, we have returned from a school field trip to the zoo. I went along as a chaperone and once again was able to see how each of the kindergarten teachers led their classrooms of children. It was brought home to me once again how fortunate we have been with the teachers our children have been given. I am so very thankful for these wonderful teachers the Lord has placed in the lives of my children.

Thank you, Lord, for Christian teachers that love and guide our children.

Oh - so wonderful that your child has a Christian teacher. When I was in grade school, my mom tried really hard to get me into classes with Christian teachers. It made a big difference to me.

I love that you celebrated teachers. What a blessing to have other Christian women (and men) love on and influence our little ones. I love that you pointed out that they cannont protect our little ones from everything...neither can we, but our prayers lifted up on their behalf can provide a blanket of protection to so much of life! Haave a great day.

As a former teacher, I really enjoyed your post! So often we take our children's teachers for granted . . . but they are truly a blessing. It is amazing how the right teacher can make all the difference in our child's life.

Oh Melanie,

Wonderful post. Happy TT.

How awesome that your son has a Christian Kindergarten teacher in a public school. Even though they may not be able to share their faith directly, but the can let Christ's light shine through.

Thank you so much for sharing your grateful heart with us this week.

Blessings to you and your precious family.

I agree wholeheartedly! My son by love is changing careers from engineering to teaching and my daughter by love is a 2nd grade teacher. Both are Christian. We are blessed to have leaders in our schools who are positive influences.

Working in public school will open your eyes to so much and I pray that God uses me to touch at least one. You don't realize how much some of these students go through when they go home. It breaks my heart...
God has blessed my family so much. I take so many things for granted. My daughter has been blessed to have so many christian teachers who reach out to her and pray for her. I too am thankful for christian teachers. They do make a difference. Thanks for reminding me to thank them.
Have a great week!

Bless moms like Melanie who appreciate their kid's teachers and help out in field trips. But zoos are such fun with preschoolers and Kindergarteners!
You need every extra prson you can get to help and secure the little people so they enjoy their visit with God's critters! Thank you Melanie and Thank you God for putting her kids with Christian teachers that will reflect You in how they teach and love each individual in their care. Give them grace! Blessings, Peggy

What a wonderful reminder to pray for those christian public school teachers! Both hubby and I are public school teachers in the district our kids attend......there is such a need for moms to pray for their teachers and kids. Public school can be a rough place these days.
I would encourage you to stay involved and continue to pray. :)
