Philippians 3:8-11

"More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowhsip of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead." Philippians 3:8-11 NIV

Do you find it a struggle some days to determine what should be the priority for the day? Do you ever look at the "to do" list and just not know where to start? I know I do. Life is so busy and there are so many things that need to be done. We get direction from every facet of our lives -- home, church, school, work. They all have something that needs to be done.

I've really been trying to weed out the "non-essentials" on my "to do" list over the last few months. Or, at the very least, re-prioritize and put those things at the top that truly belong at the top. For example, the laundry or time with my kids? Unless there is absolutely no clean underwear to be found in the house, the kids get my time. The laundry can wait until the next day.

As I've slowly gone through this re-prioritization and even more slowly made some changes, I've realized one thing that rarely makes it on the "to do" list. Taking the time to KNOW Christ. Sure, I spend time in prayer and I do read my Bible... some (working hard to make that more). I go to church regularly and I teach my children about Christ. But, what I don't take a lot of time to do is seeking to KNOW Christ more. And, in the end, that is the ultimate gain. There will be more gain from seeking Christ than all the loads of laundry I do in a lifetime. As Paul says in Philippians 3:8, "More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.."

Funny, God has been speaking to me about spending more time with him. I too have a very busy schedule - so He's been waking me up way before my alarm goes off to make sure I make the time. I think when we ask Him to do certain things - like make more time for Him - He always answers those prayers.

Good post. Thank you for sharing.

Stopped by to say thanks for leaving a comment on my site, and I realized your post is similar to mine. :)

This has always been my struggle, the busy life and the to do list vs. time getting to KNOW Jesus.
Thanks for sharing. I think I will link to your post from mine.

Time is a sneaky thing that you can't get back. Thank you for your thoughts on it.

Yeah...I found another Christian woman blogger who works outside the home!
(found it via Jesus and Dark Chocolate).
Loved this post.
I can soooo relate.
It took me quite a few years (have been a christian since age 15) to learn to prioritize my relationship/walk with Christ. Time....it is a tough thing....so fleeting and we can't get it back!
Happy Easter to you!

Oh my word, do I ever know what you're saying. If I don't calm down and cool out, I'll end up standing in the kitchen in a frenzy, wondering what I need to do next. And you know, for the first time in my life, since I now work from home, I feel in control of my schedule but still, I probably three or four times a week will need to regroup at some time during the day to focus my energies.
