Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
I have a memory that goes back over a number of years. Each time I hear the words "Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine" I have played this picture back in my mind and, each time, I am filled with such a huge sense of gratitude for the Christian mother God saw fit to make mine.
You see, my mother not only loves the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind but she also shows all those around her of this love she has. Any time I have ever sat in a service with her and this hymn was sung I remember such a joyful smile on her face. As she sings the words "This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long" there has never been a doubt in my mind as to her love for the Lord. She has seen in her life the glory divine, she has been washed in His blood, she is happy and blest in her walk with the Lord, she is filled with His goodness and lost in his love. Those descriptions from this hymn of what we can have in Christ have been experienced by my mother first hand and she is so willing to share that with all those around her.
For my sisters and I she has never hesitated to share with us the love of the Lord. She and my father always saw that we were in church, that we learned at an early age the importance of prayer and having a relationship with the Lord, they taught us how to live our lives with Christian morals and ethics, and so much more.
I pray that I will never lose sight of the gift that my mother gave to me in sharing her love for the Lord and that I will not fail to share this same gift with my own children. Thank you, Lord, for the gift of Christian mothers and that because of them we are taught of your love from a young age. Because of this I, too, am able to joyfully sing "Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine!"

Melanie, it seems we were of the same mind yesterday. Thinking of hymns and women of faith in our lives. What a blessing to have that example set before us!
Hi Melanie,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. So nice to meet you!
Wow, what an awesome tribute to your mother and father. What a godly heritage you have.
Blessings to you~
What a sweet post. I hope your mother reads this!! I absolutely love how you said, "for the Christian mother God saw fit to make mine." I so hope my children say the same of me.
By the way, I love that old hymn!!
